July News: Updates

Hello families!

I have really enjoyed getting to know and work with your child this month! This is my second monthly email - a reminder that you will see an email at the beginning and middle of each month!

Curriculum Night August 13 6-8p

Please come join us for Curriculum Night on August 13! This will include a look into 3rd grade curriculum and classroom expectations!

- 6:00 - 6:15 is PTA meeting in the gym (propose budget at the beginning)

- Session 1 - 6:25 - 7:10

- Session 2 - 7:15 - 8:00

Beginning of Grade Test (July 24)

BOG will be on Wednesday, July 24! We will be starting first thing in the morning! Please make sure to arrive to school on time!

Data Walls and Homework Calendars

Make sure to review your child’s data wall and homework calendar weekly! Data walls should be initialed when new data is there. Please do not remove any assessments! Homework calendars help keep students accountable for turning in homework and allow you to know if your child is turning in his/her homework. If you child has 10+ missing assignments by the end of the quarter, that will result in a 2 for work habits. Please make sure to check that your child is completing/turning in homework. Homework should be written in student agendas daily. This is also located in your child’s Passport binder.

Tuesday Folders

Weekly work folders will come home on Tuesdays! Please review work in the folder each week and return the empty folder.

Testing Dates

BOG Tracks 1,2 and 3 - July 24

CogAT Tracks 1,2 and 3 - October 7,8, and 9 (test for AIG services)

IOWA Track 1 and 2 - November 6 and 7 (only selected students who have qualified from the CogAt)

July 24 - Literacy End of Unit 1, BOG

August 1 - Literacy Mid Unit 2

August 2 - Math Unit 1:2 Assessment

August 8-9 - Literacy End of Unit 2

August 12 - Math Unit 2 Assessment

August 13 - Tracks 2/4 Curriculum Night 6-8p

August 14 - Literacy Mid Unit 3

August 19 - September 8 - Track Out! (optional track out packet on my website)

September 9 - Welcome back!

September 16 - Math Unit 3 Assessment

September 17 - Literacy End of Unit 3

September 27 - Fall Festival
